I’m 40-something, the mother of two girls, the older with Mosaic Down Syndrome and the younger with Autism. Read about my adventures (and deep exhaustion) as a full time working special needs mom at Mom-Blog.

I firmly believe in one unique, omnipotent, divine God, Creator of everything including physics, math, electrons, quarks and science. I’m currently an unorthodox, prorgressive Christian, even though I read that my breed doesn’t exist anymore. I beg to differ!

Why Christianity? In a long, round-about-way, God brought me back here from growing up Catholic, then having born again Christian parents, then leaving the church (but not Catholic school) at 16, then a painful non-relationships with a god that was more terrifying and cruel than loving. 11 years later, I spent 2 weeks as an agnostic, dumping everything I learned about God in the dumpster and waiting on Him to respond.

He led me onto the Path to Perfection (google it), a Sufi path (and where much of my heart still is), then one day I had the audacity to ask to be Christian so I could raise my kids like that. Be careful what you ask for, lol…

God has placed me in an awesome town eastern PA, filled with uber-conservative churches. I fell in love with a Wesleyan church, but God has conspired against me taking that route. Now I’m still lost in terms of church. Why?

Politically, I’m a liberal / progressive, through and through, nearly always vote Democrat, passionately patriotic to America, a former New Yorker, writer and web designer. There isn’t a conservative molecule in my body, so I figure God has to have a sense of humor to put me in a church where they don’t even allow female pastors.

About Jesus: I’m really trying very very hard to believe that He is God, because when you strip away religiousity, dogma, and political pandering, Christianity is the warmest, most loving message in the world and Jesus, hands down, the best in history. It’s tough, though, when you can see the glaring discordance in Biblical stories and really, truly can’t believe in 10,000 year old dinosaurs or a guy living inside a whale for a few days.

Let’s not even get started on literature. (How many virgin birth stories in cultures? God talking to Satan, isn’t that a literary device? Parables are stories, right, because in olden days they uses STORIES, so it’s not fact, right?)

Never discuss the Bible with a literature lover, lol…

Oh and I love people, even when I drive…

Unless they talk politics…lol…
